Your engine temperature is maintained by your cooling system, which has several parts including radiator, hoses, water pump, coolant and fans. All of which are susceptible to wear. Coolant needs to be replaced every 20,000km and this ensures that all components remain at their most effecient.
Over 25% of all vehicle repair costs are directly attributed to cooling system maintenance issues. Correct coolant/water concentration levels ensure the following requirements are met:
- Coolant viscocity levels
- Heat transfer capability
- Anti-Freeze protection
- Boil over protection
Incorrect coolant levels may result in:
- Engine damage due to cavitation corrosion
- Overheating
- Hose, gasket & water pump seal seepage
- Gelation & scale formation
- Solder bloom
- Freezing & cracking of hoses, radiators & engine blocks
Cooling system flush includes:
- Drain coolant
- Power flush system, including heater core and gas systems where applicable
- Inpect conditions of all components
- Add coolants Type A & Type B or genuine formula (where applicable)
- Air bleed system and pressure test
